Art League Of Fort Bend Holds Successful Spring Show

The Art League of Fort Bend’s Spring Fine Art Show, held May 16-17 in conjunction with the Rosenberg Chocolate Walk, drew a steady crowd of art enthusiasts to the Vogelsang Antique Emporium in Rosenberg.

The show was judged by Sylvia Trybek, an award-winning artist specializing in representational paintings, whose works have been recognized in fine art exhibitions and competitions coast to coast. The show featured nearly 89 pieces of fine art work by 24 local artists, ranging from oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylic and mixed media paintings, to photography, sculpture and jewelry. A variety of styles were represented, including representational, impressionistic and modern approaches and an equally varied range of techniques. Suzanne Syvertson served as chair of the event.

Cash awards were presented for Best of Show, Commerce Choice and Central Fort Bend Chamber’s Choice. Gary Frisk won Best of Show for the Adult Division for his painting Marimba Player. Wild Stripes by Giana Fernandes won the Student Best of Show award. Chamber’s Choice went to Kathy Golden for her Caribbean Coast painting, and Ed Meanley won the Commerce Choice award for his painting French Cottage Saint-Circ-Lapopie. Numerous other awards in each of four divisions were given. Works of art recognized with an award qualified for the annual Lone Star Art Guild Show in June.

Members of the Art League of Fort Bend also are showcasing their fine artwork in an ongoing exhibit for show and for sale in the upstairs lobby at Vogelsang Antique Emporium, located at 1909 Avenue G in Rosenberg.
