Fabulous seating complements other great pieces

We’re finding it quite amazing how the noble, utilitarian chair now has so many variations on its theme, including as an art piece with great shapes and fabrics that run the gamut of subdued to colorful big prints. To mix with all the innovative seating we’re featuring here, we’ve added stylish choices of tables and other furniture pieces. Our categories were inspired by the Fall Trendsetter Report from High Point Market, which is a wonderful overview of what’s in vogue in the world of home furnishings and accessories. We’ve created some of our own compilations with other ideas about what’s new and trending. We hope you get inspired to add a beautiful new piece or two to your home’s interior design.

For the Chairperson

Taylor King brings a dose of luxury to your living space with the Celine Chair, featuring “Draker Gold” Italian leather with its tight grain and hand-brushed gold metallic finish. The wood frame is finished in “Brierwood” for a sleek, formal look.

Designer Eric Jourdan has put his modern spin on a centuries-old seating design to create the Riga armchair and settee for Ligne Roset. This comfortable armchair has a padded seat and back, a slightly sloping back that offers effective lumbar support and well-positioned armrests.

Hancock and Moore’s Substance Tilt Swivel Chair adds a lively look to the home office with its blackberry crushed velvet in a Harlequin pattern.

A “Bubblegum Pink” fabric print adds a bright twist to Jessica Charles’ Lexi Slipper Chair. Its whimsical design is characterized by short legs in an ivory wood finish, button tufting and a tall seat back that waterfalls to meet the seat cushion.

Like a cozy shell, the D.154.2 Armchair is wrapped with a padded and upholstered counter-frame and a comfortable circular cushion. The armchair is part of the Gio Ponti Collection of ongoing reissues from Molteni&C. It pairs well with its Paul Sofa by Vincent Van Duysen, with its generous dimensions, distinctive double seams and great comfort.

Carved from solid mahagony, Christopher Guy Design’s magnificent, high-back dining chair pays homage to the camelia, the floral symbol of longevity and purity. Also available as a bench.

Tables of Content

Christopher Guy’s Veronique circular dining table with a wood-grain top stands on a mahogany base with three curved V shapes tipped with antique brass feet.

RH.com’s Wyeth Floating Rectangular Coffee Table is designed by John Birch with carbonized split bamboo, a nuanced material of visual depth. The understated silhouette pairs with the organic bamboo surface with stained oak veneers.

A brilliant centerpiece in the dining room, the Bradburn’s Agate Dining Table features a 54-inch round tabletop entirely in cut agate. A resin coat over the surface preserves the stone’s quality. A stainless steel base finishes the sleek look.

Asterias is a generously sized table with a central base that serves as a focal point. Reminiscent of the cactus from which it takes its names, the base boasts a unique geometric pattern and a
practical and convenient accessory at its center with a Lazy Susan turntable. Designed by Patricia Urquiola for Molteni&C.

Furniture as Art

Designer Maggie Cruz’s Home Collection fuses Old Hollywood glamour with Old Havana spirit. The Habanera Desk boasts a beautiful, curved frame with an Art Deco sensibility. Caned inner panels lend an antique feel that contrast nicely against the coral lacquer.

Bradburn’s Melea Markell Collection offers a console table or a chest of drawers that elevate its 15th century influences with even more splendor via gold leaf appliqué on the front panels. Gilded drawer pulls and hand-carved accents complete the resplendent design.

From the same collection, Markell’s Blush Chest features two large sunburst accents framed in a gilded border for added visual interest. The rose pink painted backdrop keeps the design fresh and romantic.

Simplicity and Functionality

Ligne Roset’s Entrèves Dresser is described by its designer, Marie Christine Dorner, as one that could take center stage in a space. The piece combines straight lines and curves, and features refined wood veneers, four lacquers and bronze-finish perforated metal.

Magnolia Home’s Hall Storage Bench is styled after an antique settee and is a great accent for a foyer or anywhere around the house. It has two deep storage drawers under the seat and comes in a Dove Grey or Jo’s White painted finish.

The hand-antiqued “Applause Bray” leather provides Taylor King’s Kraft Reclining Chair with the quintessential look for any man cave or study. Scalloped arms traced with subtle nail-head trim add a luxurious element.

Also from Taylor King, the 75-inch Brunswick Bench in “Wallace Marble” fabric is designed to fit perfectly at the foot of a king-sized bed. Bolster pillows lend an inviting feel, while clean tapered legs complete the look.

Funky Fabrics

From Pearson’s Le Marais collection comes the Lisette Occasional Chair with outstanding visual appeal, from its beautiful lines and flared legs to the graduating roll back detail.

Taylor King’s Milano Chair in the floral print “Vinca Indigo” brightens up any living room, bedroom or sitting area. Tapered legs in a “Brierwood” finish add an elegant touch. Its Allen Settee in “Piñata Batik” features a bold pattern inspired by Otomi tribal art and shown in a vibrant shade of turquoise. The Allen Settee’s wide frame and tall back provide the perfect canvas for the lively design.
