Smart Financial Centre Grand Opening Event Is A Huge Success

Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land, the region’s first state-of-the-art, indoor performance venue, debuted Jan. 14 with two sold-out performances by legendary comedian, Jerry Seinfeld.

Before the doors opened, the who’s who of Sugar Land gathered for an invitation-only reception in the main lobby, featuring an exclusive first look of the audience chamber and stellar light show on stage. Throughout the reception, guests were entertained with live music by Divisi Strings and celebrity impersonators, including Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Jay Leno.

As ticket holders took their seats, Jerry Seinfeld delivered nonstop laughs with his signature observational humor and uncanny ability to poke fun at the little things in life. Following the second performance, Smart Financial Centre surprised Seinfeld with a $10,000 donation to his wife’s foundation, Good + Foundation.

The crowd included Gary Becker, president of ACE SL; Randy Bloom, general manager of Smart Financial Centre; Sugar Land Mayor Joe Zimmerman; former Sugar Land Mayor James A. Thompson: Larry Seidl, CEO of Smart Financial Credit Union; Gary Tuma, former CEO of Smart Financial Credit Union; Susan Chapman, VP Chief Marketing Officer of Smart Financial Credit Union; James Sparks, CFO of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land; Bernice King, VP of Human Resources of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land; Mike Baches, VP of Sales& Finance of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land; Derek Brown, VP of Marketing of Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land; Doug Dempster, Dean of the College of Fine Arts, the University of Texas at Austin; Derrick Shore and Jennifer Broome, hosts of KPRC’s Houston Life; and Senator Lois Kolkhorst and Jim Kolkhorst.
