Literacy Council Of Fort Bend Spelling Bee

The Literacy Council of Fort Bend County had its 6th Annual Great Grown Up Spelling Bee at the Insperity Club at Constellation Field. The Bee was presented by Centerpoint Energy and chaired by Alysse Harrison and Holly Kaminga. More than 250 spectators witnessed the last two teams — the City of Sugar Land “B-Team”and the Richmond Police Department’s “Richmond Buzz”, try to out-spell each other in overtime and end in a tie. The event raised more than $48,000 for the Literacy Council’s programs!

ACS Couture For The Cause VIP Party

The American Cancer Society’s Couture for the Cause Fashion Show presented
by Wealth Design Group, held a VIP party for sponsors at Veritas Steak and Seafood in Sugar Land. The Party, underwritten by Toni and Mike Batches, was a fun evening of recognizing the event sponsors and celebrating.

Cowboy Up Vip Party

The Cowboy up VIP party was held at Icon Bank recently. Several of Parks Youth Ranch supporters gathered in celebration of providing over 30,000 nights of shelter and hope for the future to at-risk and homeless youth. The success of the fundraising event and the mission is secured through the generous sponsorship from the Fred and Mabel R. Parks Foundation, Patt and Dick Hogan, Gwen and Kolbe Curtice, the Stanka Family, Sovereign Bank, and Wonderful Windows & Siding! A great time was had by all.

Child Advocates Of Fort Bend’s Voices For Children Breakfast

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale was the featured speaker at Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s sixth annual Voices for Children Breakfast on Sept. 29. McIngvale shared his family’s experience adopting 8-year-old Regina as their foster child, and how they made a commitment to join her step-by-step on the journey toward her healing. Nick McMillian, a courageous young man who survived child sexual abuse with the help of the staff at Child Advocates of Fort Bend, shared his personal story of hope and healing. During her welcome, Shelli LeBret revealed how she came to adopt a child out of the foster care system. The breakfast was sponsored by Exchange Club of Missouri City.
