East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry’s Empty Bowls

Over 400 community members gathered on a mild Texas spring evening for the 7th Annual Fort Bend Empty Bowls, April 15th at Safari Texas Ranch. The event, which includes a live and silent auction and hand-painted bowl sale, brought in over $104,000 for the Ministry’s programs. Guests were served a simple bowl of soup and bread, donated by 11 local area restaurants, to remember those in our community who often do not have enough to eat.

Each year the funds raised from Empty Bowls go to benefit the programs of East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry’s food pantry and financial assistance program. For each dollar raised, ninety-one cents goes directly to programs.

Spring Fling 2016 - A Day At The Derby

The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) along with Co-Chairs Taylor Connor, Consuelo Haller and Jennifer Kirkpatrick, welcomed more than 250 guests to Sweetwater Country Club on April 7 for A Day at the Derby. The indoor tennis courts were transformed into a festive Derby viewing atmosphere where guests mingled, dined on traditional Kentucky Derby fare, drank Mint Juleps and were able to buy Derby squares before watching the race on the big screens. After the winners were crowned the party continued on with a DJ, live and silent auctions, a Hosebooze Pull and a Julep and Gem Raffle. Event proceeds benefit FBJSL and the many ways that they contribute throughout Fort Bend County. Over the last 15 years, FBJSL has raised $3.4 million for local Fort Bend nonprofits.
