Hundreds of fashionable ladies and their “up-and-coming” daughters enjoyed the Sweet­water Women’s Association 26th annual luncheon and style show at the Club. Moms and daughters adorned the latest fashions for the themed event “A New Decade in Fashion” from scores of the hottest shops around town including Kiss Kiss, The Wardrobe, Ava Grace and many others. Ooh lala!!

The Hyatt Place Sugar Land hosted a Meet and Greet with general manager Michael Gleeson at Post Oak Grill in Lake Pointe Town Center.  Dozens of representatives from the city of Sugar Land, and other friends, were on hand to welcome Hyatt representatives to the area. Tours were given of the hotel, scheduled to open in mid-November; the hotel will feature 214 guest rooms and amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi, fitness center, coffee and wine bar, and made-to-order breakfast, lunch and dinner.

It was that time of year again—time for the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Leadership Reunion. The Reunion rallies former classmates to welcome new members for its 10 month-long program. The Fort Bend Leadership Forum was organized in 1987 and grew out of an increasing need for volunteer leadership in Fort Bend County.

15) Sugar Land Superstar! It was a great 2010 competition—one that Fort Bend residents looks forward to. Finalists were Mary Sarah Gross in third place, winner Chase Nease and Toni Davis in second place. Chase Nease performed his rendition of Chris Young’s The Man I Want to Be in the final round, which earned him the title of Sugar Land Superstar 2010.

Sugar Land resident Ayaz Mahmood is $625,682 richer after winning the no-limit hold’em heads-up world championship event at the 2010 World Series of Poker. According to ESPN, Mahmood is a former furniture retailer who started playing tournament poker eight years ago. The four-day event ended with Mahmood’s victory that earned him an automatic bid into the 2011 National Heads-Up Poker Championships. Congrats Ayaz!
