Hats, Gloves, And Boutonnieres Benefit Luncheon
The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center hosted the 15th Annual Hats, Gloves, and Boutonnieres on May 15 at the home of hostess Mary Margaret Sims. The beautiful event was co-chaired by Lynn Halford and Dee Hinkle. Hats and fabulous fashions were on display everywhere. Charlene Pate, an event underwriter and supporter of the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, was honored at the luncheon with a plaque in her honor. The event benefited the Fort Bend Discovery Center and outreach efforts.
The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center is committed to transforming communities through innovative, child-centered learning. With a focus on strengthening parents’ abilities to serve as their children’s first and most influential teachers, they provide meaningful bilingual resources to families at the Discovery Center and in the community to prepare children for success in school and instill in them the confidence to be lifelong learners. The Discovery Center is a special project of the Children’s Museum of Houston.

Cattle Baron’s Ball - Drilling For A Cure
Drilling for a Cure was the theme for the 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball held April 28 at The George Historical Park in Richmond. The arena at the George Ranch had a capacity crowd of well-dressed cowboys and cowgirls in boots, hats, elegant and western attire. The fun party offered Vegas-style gaming including black jack and craps as well as cheering on a favorite piglet during the pig races. Guests also enjoyed a wine pull featuring over 300 exemplary bottles of wine and champagne or the jewelry pull featuring Kendra Scott jewelry. The food was fabulous, and guests enjoyed the music of Bri Bagwell, and danced the night away with music from featured artist Trace Adkins.
The 2018 Cattle Baron’s Ball was chaired by Susan Ryan and Jerre Williams and benefited the American Cancer Society. The event was hosted by VICTORY, a volunteer branch of the American Cancer Society.

Child Advocates Of Fort Bend Off To The Races Gala
Child Advocates of Fort Bend hosted a Kentucky Derby theme with its Off to the Races gala May 5 at the Sugar Land Town Square Marriott. The ballroom was filled with fun decorations, ladies in hats and well-dressed gentlemen. The event featured a silent and live auction, raffle and dancing. Entertainment by Cookie Joe’s Dancin’ School, Chicken and Waffles Music and Pine Island Station made for a festive evening. Michele Fisher served as Mistress of Ceremonies and Johnny Bravo did the honor of serving as auctioneer.
Proceeds benefited Child Advocates of Fort Bend, a nonprofit agency serving abused and neglected children through two programs: CASA and the Children’s Advocacy Center. The agency’s mission is to provide a voice, heal the hurt, and break the cycle. The agency has served more than 14,500 children since it opened its doors in 1991.
