Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair - Bar Fight!

The 15th Annual Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair held April 4-8, showcased great foods from the gulf coast to global regions, creative chefs, and 200 + wines and beverages at several events and venues in Sugar Land. This year was one of the largest crowds of guests and participants since the start of the event in 2003. More than 60 chefs from Texas, Kentucky, and Maine as well as a large contingent from Los Cabos provided the delicious food. Events included One if by Sea, Two if by Land, held at the Sugar Land Heritage Museum and Visitor Center; Bar Fight!, a food bites extravaganza and a spirited Bartenders Challenge presented by Los Cabos and Don Julio; and the Grand Tasting at the Sugar Land Marriott.

The Sugar Land Wine and Food Affair was founded by the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce to present a cultural food and beverage experience while showcasing the growing City of Sugar Land. The Wine & Food Affair benefits a permanent scholarship endowment at the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management. In 2017, the Sugar Land Wine & Food Affair partnered with IWSC Group to expand the scope, influence and magnitude of the event. Cheers to the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce for creating such a fun, fabulous and delicious culinary event!

Garden Glitz Couture For The Cause

The colorful and elegant Garden Glitz Couture for the Cause was held at The Farmhouse at Harvest Green in Richmond on April 14. The 2018 Co-Chairs were Monique Bossett, Susan Ley-Novosad, Debbie Marcell, Gina Pizzini, Michelle Royster and Margot Sayre. Honorary Chairs KK and Scott West were honored for their work and vision in creating and forming the first Couture for the Cause in 2009. The Wests were recognized for their major contributions to Fort Bend County and their work in support of the American Cancer Society.

The beautiful fashion show produced by Lenny Matuszewki was held outside and the models graced the runway that was positioned over the pool. Dillards of Post Oak provided the breathtaking formal and spring fashions that were modeled by prominent men and women from Fort Bend County. Adding to the significance were the many models for the event who had bravely battled cancer in the past and proved they are strong and beautiful survivors.

Girlfriends Giggle

Girlfriends Giggle, “A Cowgirls’ Night Out,” was hosted by the Fort Bend Women’s Center on April 27 at Briscoe Manor in Richmond. The fun and festive evening raised much-needed funds for the Women’s Center. Girlfriends Giggle began in 2006 to support the Center’s mission of assisting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children to achieve safety and self-sufficiency, while striving to prevent violence against women.

Cowgirls at the event enjoyed several fun venues: Shopping at the Cowgirl Market at several boutiques on the patio while listening to musician Chris Boise; pampering and beauty hosted in the Cowgirl Chill Zone; food and beverages in the ballroom and live entertainment from the Jonathan Moody Band; a Kendra Scott Mystery Jewelry Pull and a photo booth in the foyer. The Giggle Cowgirl Casino was held on the porch and offered a mechanical bull and calf roping for the brave at heart! Guests looked especially fabulous in western and country chic fashions of denim, lace, petticoats, leather, beautiful embroidery tops, boots and, of course, hats.
