Design And Composition Can Accentuate Your Style

Those who are in the know about the latest furniture trends have predicted good news: a range of options are available to transform your home in these days of warmth and sunshine. Overall, designers tell us to focus on our personal style and flair for composition when arranging furniture in our home.

That the home furnishings industry is giving consumers credit for their taste is a good thing. The interior design expert who introduced this season’s High Point Market Home Style Report agrees. Michelle Jennings Wiebe, ASID notes that High Point Market is transforming, with strong attendance and brand-new showroom buildings regularly opening. “Our clients are also evolving; due to technology and travel, they can cultivate their taste and design knowledge more than ever before,” she added.

Isn’t it nice to be appreciated by creative professionals? Whether you plan to work with a furniture store or interior design professional, show off your taste and personal style with a furniture makeover that is distinctively you. This month, we’re featuring some interesting takes on the basic pieces of seating, dining and coffee tables and the storage we all need. (For other new furniture options, see the March issue of Lifestyles & Homes.)

Comfort Couched in Style

According to a survey by global marketplace 1stdibs.com, modern dominates: 65 percent of designers preferred contemporary projects in 2018. These couches and chaises exemplify the trend toward comfort and beautiful shape in new and fashionable ways.

Conversations flow effortlessly when two people are seated facing each other in the Jessica Charles Collin Tête-à-Tête. Providing tall angular sides for back support and a comfortable armrest, this lounger has a honeyed walnut frame supporting an ivory upholstered seat.

The Lexi Bench by Jessica Charles has a heightened feel and geometric horsebit print in navy and white, giving it a decidedly fresh look.

Verellen’s Klara Round Chaise Front Sofa is made with a sustainably harvested hardwood frame and eight-way, hand-tied seat construction. It comes standard with multiple pillows.

Neat Seats

A new kind of elegance is offered by these other seating options. The Cleo Dining Chair from Jessica Charles has a stylish look with brushed linen fabric in a pale mint hue combined with a distressed wood finish. The sleek legs of the firm’s Maxine Dining Chair, which also comes in a matching Swivel Barstool, contrast nicely against the available fabric choices.

Verellen’s Marcela Chair is a modern classic that rests on front legs and its seat along the bottom. Besides total comfort and stylishness, it is definitely a conversaton starter, as is Verellen’s Butterfly Stool with a figurative silhouette.

Bellini’s Balzo Lounge Chair boasts a sleek, slim profile that nods to retro style while remaining contemporary in spirit. A walnut veneer shell adds a natural element that contrasts with a black metal foot and white leather upholstery.

Turning the Tables

These tables will take center stage in your home. The Aloha Table from Bellini is part of a collection that also features a coat rack and valet, all with natural walnut elements juxtaposed with more industrial white lacquered metal. All three pieces add style in a small footprint.

Bellini’s Jango Coffee Table creates a sculptural focal piece with a circular glass table top supported by an abstract metal frame. Verellen’s Sonar Table has a similar geometric profile and construction, with an added wooden base.

Counteracting Jango’s slightly futuristic look is Bellini’s Scacco Side Table/Stool. The solid walnut is pieced together into a shape perfect for extra seating or setting down a drink or a vase of flowers.

Everyone loves to hang out in the kitchen, and the Kitchen Island from the Magnolia Home collection will add a focal point to gather round. It gets its vintage worktable look in part from its distressed wood stain finish and sheet metal top.

Verellen’s Marbella Dining Table has a classic, clean line. It is crafted with sustainably harvested hardwood.

Hancock & Moore’s San Juan Cocktail Table pairs an antique gold finish and glass top over azure blue lacquer. Match it with the San Juan Chest and Lamp Table.

For tables with even more metalic dazzle, Worlds Away’s Amanda Dining Table has a gold leave basketweave base that shines bright. A glass tabletop lets the dazzle shine through.

Statement Storage

Today’s consoles, sideboards, cabinets and shelving don’t sacrifice style for function. They are not only versatile but also add creative flair to a setting, whether in the living room or dining area – anywhere throughout the home you want a modern look to staying organized.

Bobby Berk’s LAX Entertainment Shelf has a minimalist aesthetic. It houses all your media equipment neatly behind polished brass doors. Two adjustable shelves and accommodations for cables add to this console’s functionality. The designer’s Baxter Magazine Rack is refreshed with black metal framing, hemp fabric and aged black leather.

The Gatsby Sideboard from Bellini has an X-frame stainless steel base that is carried onto the black walnut veneer frame. The top creates additional contrast with its tempered, colored glass storage.

Worlds Away’s Lucy Cabinet is a reverse antique mirror and gold leaf two-door chest. It has one fixed interior shelf and the back is painted gold. Mirroring this look is its Ponti Sideboard, an antique mirror four-door entertainment console with gold detailing and gold-leaf iron handles.

Shelving units also come in some lovely options. Worlds Away’s Clifton is a gold-leaf crosshatch etagere with clear glass shelves. Bellini Carraway Curio gives a nod to mid-century modern style with its sleek geometry. The four shelves are made of amber-tinted glass and supported by a stainless steel frame in a polished finish.

How will you add flair to your home this spring? Create an environment that fits your style with these beautiful pieces.
